I am blessed to say that, at my age (and his as well), my father is still among the living. I am grateful for the time that we get to spend together.
We typically talk any day of the week with Sunday conversations about the NFL happenings. Usually light natured, we rarely speak of any negativity and focus on family planning and progress.
This week my dad made a point to tell me how fortunate he felt that not only is he alive and well, but all of the parents are alive and are in relatively good health. So, my biological dad of whom I speak is married to my stepmother. My biological mother is married to my stepfather. Bare with me now. My in-laws are remarried as well . So I have a father-in-law with a stepmother-in-law and a mother-in-law with a stepfather-in-law. Yes that is correct. Collectively my wife and I have eight hard-headed parents. And yes they were tough to raise.
But my dad was right. We are blessed to still have them alive, well and still in our lives. We pray daily for their health and happiness and look forward to years of continued mutual love and support.
