“The Cold”

Late Fall. Early Winter. The Cold.  Don’t underestimate The Cold. The Cold has presence. The Cold has life. It breathes. It moves. The Cold knows it’s purpose, resting comfortably on its laurels while arrogantly awaiting its seasonal arrival.

The Cold knows it’s effect on us. It laughs as, upon first exposure, our bodies recoil when feeling the relative change from the now departed summer. The Cold boldly moves as it watches us hurry to find the nearest shelter, smiling proudly as it forces us to wear coats, hats, gloves, hoodies.

The Cold moves you differently than heat. Upon stepping outdoors into the Summer heat your body feels the weight of the high temperatures initially, then the heat settles into your skin and bones. The Cold is not as patient, attacking your skin instantly and cutting right through to your bones while celebrating as you surrender and seek refuge. Beware…

‘Tis the Season. Fall is here and Winter is coming. So to is The Cold.

“22nd Day of Christmas 2025”

You know, I’ve been spoiled with many different types of Christmas gifts over the years. Toys in my youth. Money as a teenager. Musical instruments as an adult. Loved and cherished them all. But you know what, the best gift is the soft, warm and close embrace my wife gives when she knows I need it. Like today and everyday.

Give the gift a hug today. You may receive one in return.

“24th Day of Christmas 2025”

I recently reposted a story from 2022 titled “Revenge of the Clothes Dryer” which tells the time I gained some weight while thinking my clothes were shrinking. Well it is 2025 and I feel my clothes are shrinking once again. So…….

Today’s Christmas wish is for time to exercise. Last year a few of my coworkers, who saw me take walks during lunch, asked if I worked out. I did not but was flattered by the assumption. Using that as motivation I started doing “50 Exercises For Men Over 50” which I saw on YouTube. From February 2024 to January 2025 I was pretty consistent with daily workouts.  Not so much since then.  Guess I better get back to it. My shrinking clothes are telling me it’s time.

“25 Days of Christmas 2025”

The Holiday Season is off and running. December 1st marks my annual “Days of Christmas” countdown which I started in 2020.

So here we are, thankful for another year. So how do I want to start this year’s countdown? It has been a busy year both mentally and physically so for Day 25 let’s start with rest. Who couldn’t use more rest in their lives these days? Some say that rest is the main ingredient to the fountain of youth. I’ll take it.

“Is It Fixed?”

New Carb And Fuel Lines

Man! I got my old Husqvarna 150BT to start today. Replaced the fuel line and carburateur. Took awhile (and a few pulls) but it did start. So, I ran it for about 20 minutes and cleaned one side of the house. However, when I turned it off it wouldn’t start again. Right……?

Well progress is progress. A few weeks ago I bought a new leaf blower because the BT150 had “retired”.  Now it may be back on the job. A little more TLC and it just might be back on duty with its big brother.

“Promises”

Everytime I see your face your smile brings out the best in me

Everytime I see your smile the more of you I wanna see

Everytime you kiss my lips so softly makes me close my eyes

Dream about us making love anticipation got me high

Gimme all your promises that you said you’d give to me

All the pretty promises the ones you break and the ones you keep

Takin all your promises that you said you’d give to me

All the pretty promises the ones you break and the ones you keep

Everytime you touch me girl I can feel it everywhere

Make me wanna touch you back you know I’m gonna touch you there

Everytime you hug me baby hate it when you walk away

So I’m gonna hold you closer hoping that you’ll always stay

Gimme all your promises that you said you’d give to me

All the pretty promises the ones you break and the ones you keep

Takin all your promises that you said you’d give to me

All the pretty promises the ones you break and the ones you keep

Promised that you’d kiss my body taking all the pain away

Promised that you’d whisper softly all the things you need to say

Promised that you’d breath into my Spirit everything you have to give

Promised that you’d love me for as long as God allows us to live

Gimme all your promises that you said you’d give to me

All the pretty promises the ones you break and the ones you keep

Loving all your promises that you always give to me

Loving all the promises you never break and always keep

“My Motivation is Personal”

Family…….

My motivation is now personal, infinite, for my sanity

Burning, raging, passionate, all for my family.

My motivation is you, when seeing me you close the door.

My motivation is me, seeing you like I never have before.

Anger, painful, vengeful, yeah I can go there.

My motivation is simple, what’s fair is fair.

My motivation is the earth, the oceans and the trees.

Watching a life die, weapon of a choice: a knee.

My motivation is the Universe, the stars, the sun.

Saying you grabbed a taser, knowing it was a gun.

My motivation is winning, losing, the challenge.

Restless, irritable, irrational, and maybe out of balance.

Helpless, hopeless, limited, praying that I’m wrong.

My motivation is motion, happening, strong.

The heart, the energy, the power the rage.

I finished all of your chapters, you still on my first page.

Hedonistic, confident, extravagant, decadent.

My motivation is necessary, while yours is barely relevant.

You are full of weakness, cowardice, emptiness, you know I’m right.

My motivation is my revenge, your sorry ass started this fight.

My motivation is breathing, and living, and life.

With sounds, with music, with fellowship and the Light.

My motivation is God, Spirit and free

My motivation is personal, ’cause you messed with my family.

“An Eventful Weekend”

Man. Where do I begin. You know what, I’ll do something that is uncharacteristic of me. I’ll start at the end and work my way back to how this weekend started.

I am currently waiting for the plumber to complete repair of my home’s water main valve that started leaking on Saturday. The plumber had trouble locating the outside water meter because it is located  nearer to my neighbor and buried under debris left by tree removal. The original estimate is increasing exponentially as I wait. He arrived at 10am. It is now 1:40pm. Meanwhile we have an  electrician scheduled to arrive by 2pm to install lights….. cost to be determined.

On Saturday I repaired a leaky bathtub faucet due to the cartridge needing replacement. I did the work myself to save money. Had to do the repair twice as the first cartridge’s rubber seal came apart…….Little did I know what lurked for today. It is Monday by the way.

And now to the beginning. My weekend got off to a promising start. I finally found time to inspect my old Husqvarna 150BT leaf-blower to see why it stopped working. Stripped it down the the cylinder. Everything looked good. May be just a clogged fuel line. To be safe I ordered the fuel line and carburateur and hope to install them next weekend. As of now there is no more work scheduled and I hope to keep it that way. And so does my bank account.
